Working with Alexandra has been an extraordinary experience. Even though it was a tough renovation project with unusual material specifications and some really tight spaces, she was always really enjoyable to work with. She has been incredibly dedicated to our project and her work has transformed our women’s shelter and services. Everyone who comes through can’t believe that it is the same space. It is now a calming, joyful and dignified space for our ladies and for the staff that accompany them. Her advice to upcycle part of the project came out GORGEOUS and saved us a ton of money. These savings allowed us to splurge on a vertical garden and a spectacular rug for the living room area. What she has done has turned a somber shelter dormitory into the most adorable rooms that offer every level of comfort. We can’t thank you enough Alexandra.

This was my first time working with Alex on a project. I thought my needs and wants would be too peculiar and my space too small to be worth the effort. I am a plant person and needed a lot of space and light for my collection. Alex did not disappoint. After a consultation and a house visit to make measurements, I was convinced of Alex's determination for the project. The design presented went above and beyond my expectations. I feel like Alex really heard my needs and tailored the design specifically for me. The final result was stunning, the design presented really looked and felt the way I wanted my space to feel. The digital layout looked exactly like my space and I could see it projected onto my home. She went above and beyond and made sure to include all of my key points for what I wanted and even sourced where I could get the items in the design as needed. I did not go with the setup and installation for the design but I will be slowly implementing it myself over time. I would highly recommend Alex's work, she was very professional, I got results in a timely manner and she exceeded my expectations for the space. She brought a lot of enthusiasm and creativity to my living space needs and desires and delivered a really great design. I highly recommend Alex Shield Design. She was able to come up with multiple design options so that the resulting rooms would be to our style. She worked within budget and her presentation of her ideas gave us a good understanding of the completed work.

It all started with a few packages of repurposed floor tiles lying around our home and a desperate need for a bathroom update. We were encouraged to have Alexandra Shield (a long time family friend) look at our bathroom and hopefully present us with some ideas. We loved that Alex has taken a different approach to interior design by being a Sustainable Interior Designer, as this was also right up our alley! After receiving 2 designs, we knew she was the right person for the job. Alexandra is very professional, always reply’s to many questions and is able to easily work through ideas. She cares deeply about the importance of living life sustainably and really took the time to listen to our needs and requirements. She even incorporated a style she knew we’d love, due to our Nautical obsession. Our Nautical love is now displayed in a gorgeous backsplash that reminds us daily of beach days and sea glass. We worked with Alex on designing our son's room, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. Not only does she bring great design skills, but she’s also attentive, responsive, punctual, and genuinely fun to work with. Our agreement meant Alex would take the lead of the entire project, minimizing our involvement, and I shudder to think of tracking all the tiny details she managed with ease. Throughout the process, there were inevitable hurdles - out-of-stock items, defective products, even some sudden changes of heart on our end - but Alex breezed through it like child’s play. If anything ever came up, she was on it right away, keeping things running smoothly the whole time. We’re beyond pleased with both the result and the process. Alex is a rare professional who delivers on every level. Luckily, we have a few more rooms to work with her again!

We hired Alex and her team to help us refresh our home as decorating is not our strong suit. After our first meeting with her, we could definitely see her professionalism and dedication to our project. She worked diligently with us to get to know our likes and dislikes regarding color, themes, and functionality. She put together a very comprehensive plan showing us several options. She presented us with a budget and after a few virtual meetings, we made decisions with her guidance and agreed on an installation date to put it all together. Although we did go over the initial budget, it did definitely pay off. I must admit that I was a bit reluctant on some of the options she showed us at first, but her confidence in the outcome won me over. We loved working with Alex! We needed help figuring out how to make a few spaces feel more coherent, more practical and more like us (paint, furniture, layouts...). She really helped us make our house feel like a home. Sustainability is a priority for us and she well and truly respected this - it is apparent in her work that this is very important to her. As a bonus, she also limewash painted a room in our house and it came out gorgeous. Highly recommend!
